wondering when you should book your newborn session?

Welcoming a newborn into the world is one of life’s most precious experiences. Those tiny fingers, delicate eyelashes, and sweet sleepy stretches change so quickly in the first few weeks! As a motherhood photographer, I often get asked: When is the best time to book a newborn session? Let’s dive into the details so you can capture these fleeting moments beautifully.

1) When is the best time to capture my newborn baby?

The ideal time to photograph your newborn is within the first 6 to 14 days after birth. During this short window, babies are still in that curly, sleepy stage, making it easier to capture those peaceful, snuggly poses. Their tiny features, like wrinkly little hands and soft, squishy cheeks, are also best preserved at this time.

2) When is the best time to book?

To ensure you secure your spot, I always recommend booking your newborn session as early as possible—most mamas schedule during their second trimester. This helps us plan ahead and gives you peace of mind knowing that your session is set, no matter when your little one decides to arrive.

3) Don’t wait too long to book!

Newborn sessions require a bit of flexibility since babies tend to arrive on their own schedule. To accommodate this, I only take a limited number of newborn bookings each month to allow for adjustments. Because of this, spots can fill up fast! Booking early is the best way to ensure availability.

4) "Shoot, I forgot to book, and my baby has already arrived!"

Don’t worry, mama! If your baby has already made their grand entrance and you haven’t booked a session yet, still reach out! Depending on my schedule, I may have last-minute openings, especially on weekdays when things are a little less busy. I’ll always do my best to fit you in so you don’t miss out on capturing these first special moments!
