How to Make the Most of Your Maternity Session: 3 Key Tips

Planning your maternity session is such a special part of your motherhood journey — it’s a time to celebrate your changing body, your growing baby, and the love that's already blooming around them. Whether it’s your first pregnancy or your fifth, this chapter is worthy of being captured beautifully and intentionally.
To help you get the most out of your session, I’m sharing three essential tips I always recommend to my clients. These will help you feel prepared, confident, and truly radiant on the day of your shoot.
1. Know When to Schedule Your Session
The ideal time to schedule your maternity session is between 30–34 weeks. Around this time, your belly is beautifully rounded and defined, which photographs so well. More importantly, you're likely still comfortable enough to move around, pose, and enjoy the experience without too much fatigue.
Every pregnancy is different, of course, so if you're unsure when to book, I’m always happy to help you decide based on how you're feeling and how your pregnancy is progressing.
2. Choose the Right Outfit (and Don’t Worry — I’ll Help!)
One of the biggest questions I get asked is: “What should I wear?”
The good news? You don’t have to stress over it.
As part of my client experience, I offer access to a carefully curated client wardrobe filled with beautiful, flattering maxi dresses. I personally assist with outfit selection for about 90% of my sessions — helping you choose a look that fits your style, body, and the overall aesthetic we’re aiming for.
Once you've picked your dress, I take care of everything else: prepping, steaming, and bringing it to your session so you don’t have to worry about a thing.
Prefer a cozy, casual vibe? I absolutely love a relaxed look too — think a soft crop top or a classic button-down shirt over a bra, paired with your favorite jeans. It’s simple, timeless, and totally you.
3. Find the Perfect Location
Your maternity session should reflect your personality and vision — and where we shoot plays a big part in that.
You might be drawn to the soft, intimate feel of my studio, where you’ll find cozy corners, controlled lighting, and total privacy. Or maybe you’re dreaming of golden light in an outdoor setting, with open skies and natural beauty as your backdrop. Either way, I’ll guide you through location options that fit your vision and make you feel your best.
Whether you envision something earthy, elegant, cozy, or minimal, we’ll find the perfect spot together.
